Eminem, through his production company Eight Mile Style, has filed a lawsuit against Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) for alleged unauthorized use of his songs. The lawsuit, filed on May 30 in Michigan, claims Meta’s Reels Remix and Original Audio features distributed Eminem’s music without a valid license, leading to billions of streams and millions of user-generated videos. Eight Mile Style is seeking over $1 million in damages, demanding up to $150,000 per song per platform. The suit alleges Meta knowingly encouraged “rampant infringement” despite not having licensing authorization from Audiam, Inc., and therefore is not eligible for DMCA safe harbor.
